Why the DACA ruling really upsets us

Today, Trump announced that Congress had 6 months to deal with the legal ramifications surrounding the Obama era DACA.

Everyone's mad.  Let's not entertain the idea that those who wanted it gone instantly are in any sort of right.  The idea behind DACA is a good one.   These people's parents messed up.  They don't deserve to suffer because their parents are idiots.  If we punished that, then a large number of Americans would be doomed.

What angers a lot of people is the fact that it's now up to congress. A congress, they claim, that is completely useless.

Thing is.  We didn't elect the president.  Even the most fervent Trump lover didn't.   We didn't elect Obama, either. The House of Representatives did.   Combined with the fact that he lost the popular vote we should have been aware of this from the start.  The bill was pushed through because (the Republican-led) "Congress wouldn't cooperate" and but failed to be fixed when troublesome Republicans no longer controlled congress.

Congress, on the other hand, are elected by us.  We have the power to call for special elections.  We have the power to remove them from their seats and put in place people we agree with ideologically.   Congress is lame?  That's on us.

And so is DACA.

We're mad because the survival, or failure, of DACA, is now in our hands.  As a piece of presidential ruling, we could wash our hands of any responsibility.  Now, we can't.

So, now that you know you're not helpless in this process what are YOU going to do?  Want changes?  Get your congressman to act.  Your failure to do so may directly affect the lives of thousands of people.
